A l’aube de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, un groupe de résistants et de passionnés d’art organise l’exfiltration rocambolesque des chefs-d’œuvre du musée du Louvre afin de les soustraire aux nazis. Celui qui dirige l’opération est Jacques Jaujard, le directeur du Louvre. Ce grand commis de l’état met sa connaissance des rouages du système, son sens stratège et son incroyable audace au service d’une cause universelle : sauver le patrimoine national.
